The indulgent traveller

Into the wilds.

After saying goodbye to Maddie and a windy night in Hobart I headed for the wilderness in the form of the South west.

This was the page in my road atlas, you can see the road on the right!

The road was built to support the construction of a huge and controversial dam. Unlike in the UK were allowed on the dam.

It is a high as the Sydney Harbour bridge and could induce vertigo in the most solid.
It was strange they felt the need for this sign, may result in?

The drive in took 2hrs from the last town with no mobile reception. I camped at Ted’s beach.

Free camping and a toilet… luxury

Looking more and more like Scotland

Except for the huge ferns.

Not much on the road except this little feller. An echidna.

Fantastic landscape with nothing and nobody between me and South America

Each town was very small and was there due to mining.

This town reminded me of Blaenau slates in North Wales… but on reflection not sure the picture captures the devastation

An overnight in Strahan which is famous for…..?

And

A natural harbour bigger than Sydney
A little friend joining me for diner
And still waters.

    looks so different to anywhere I’ve been! Absolutely amazing. We both know that dam would have made me vomit xxx
