After a gloomy departure the 12 hr ferry journey flew by as the sun came out and it was very hot 🥵 even on deck.

The coast came into view, but once in the harbour it was still 3hrs to go to get to the port of Geelong.

Aside from the oil refinery and the new ferry port (which were miles from the centre of town with NO buses… still got down with other back packers and shared a taxi. Yes I am young and cool) there was a nice waterfront with a pier all very Brighton with palm trees.

Headed along the Great Ocean Rd by bus to Lorne.

This is a tourist area but everything was shut due to high wild fire warnings.37 degrees with very strong winds. It cooled by the evening.
Turns out there is one bus a day! So the Great Ocean Rd doesn’t have Great transport along the Rd. Still the buses that I did catch were excellent with good views and stops including the 12 Apostles, there are now only 8… erosion.

I decided to stay in place called Port Campbell for a couple of nights.
